Organic advertising describes posts, articles and links that do not have any advertising budget associated with them. To ensure your business is profitable we recommend adding paid social media ads to your marketing strategy – this is what will skyrocket your results and revenue. Paid social media ads involve a more detailed campaign structure to send the right message to the right person at the right time.
A pixel is a short piece of code that we install on your website and any landing pages we create for your campaigns. We first install a base pixel and then install the best pixel standard and custom events that are triggered by different actions your prospect takes. For instance, we can track people who view your product and then send them a specific message to bring them back and complete their purchase. Or we can track people who click a button on your landing page, monitor how far through the purchase process they move, and send a relevant message to them. We can also tell who watched a certain video, how long they viewed it for, or how far down a page somebody scrolled.
Having a pixel correctly installed also means we can use that data to create “lookalike” audience lists and use those when we are prospecting for new customers for your business.
The size of your social media ads budget will depend upon your business goals, your business’ capacity for fulfilment, and how quickly you want to reach a particular revenue goal. We assist our clients in determining the right-sized budget using industry benchmarks, and monitoring data.
Retargeting with ads is done by using the pixel data. It is extremely important that you send the right message to the right person at exactly the right time. For instance, you might see that people are browsing a “how to” video that is related to your product. You know they are interested in how the product works, so you may decide to show them an ad that includes a discount. For another person, the data may indicate they started to check out and did not finish the process. You can choose to retarget them both with an ad campaign and an email (or Messenger bot) to encourage them to come back and complete their purchase.
You might also discover that somebody didn’t buy because they still felt uncertain about the product. In this case you can provide them with information to help build trust in your product and offer, such as “how to” information and/or a money-back guarantee.
Occasionally we see a case where boosted posts have worked well for a brand. However, the recipe for success requires an extremely loyal, sizeable audience combined with an aggressive posting calendar. The problem with boosting posts is that targeting is nowhere near as specific as when our team at Defiant Digital creates a proper campaign structure, and retargeting is not covered.
Because Facebook’s platform is accessible, many people attempt to create their own marketing campaigns without a proper campaign structure and bidding options in place. The result is that many people do lose money on Facebook ads. However, our team implements highly-successful strategies that focus on a strong Return on Investment, and we’re very good at what we do. If any agency offers a guarantee on their Facebook ads, we suggest you run the other way. Why? We don’t own Facebook. Or Instagram. Or Linkedin. We’re playing on other people’s real estate. They can (and do) change the rules often. And on very rare occasions they can break – in 2019 Facebook’s Business Manager was inaccessible for a few hours while people’s ad spend kept moving.
Algorithms contain errors, systems can shut down, and even the humans who give support can make incorrect decisions. So, no guarantees for social media ads. But we do promise to implement industry best practice. And we like to keep our clients around for the long term.
